Kawasaki

Kawasaki Motorcycle Alternator

Like the 5 other major Japanese keiretsu (conglomerates), Kawasaki Heavy Industries specializes in a vast array of related and unrelated business fields.  For Kawasaki, these ventures include aerospace, commuter trains and public transportation (rolling stock), shipbuilding, high-performance energy plants, industrial equipment, infrastructure, and powersports equipment.  In 1949, Kawasaki Aircraft Company built their very first motorcycle engine; an an air-cooled 148cc, overhead valve four-stroke single-cylinder that made 3.9 horsepower. This engine went into mass production for public use in 1953 and thus began Kawasaki’s foray into the world of motorcycles.  A year later in 1954, Kawasaki released their first complete motorcycle, Meihatsu. Meihatsu motorcycles bore the logo of the Kawasaki Aircraft Company and, until 1960, were built as a subsidiary of Kawasaki Aircraft. Kawasaki soon completed construction of a dedicated motorcycle production factory and, along the way, purchased the once-prestigious Meguro Manufacturing Co motorcycle company.  Kawasaki’s first original motorcycle to be built with entirely all-Kawasaki parts was the 1962 B8. The durable and inexpensive bike was a huge hit in Japan and the B8’s legacy helped shape the rest of Kawasaki’s street bikes from thereon. The B8 was spun off into its own motocross variant, the B8M, which was the forefather of the KX series of motocross bikes such as the fuel-injected KX450F and KX250F.  The 1990s were Kawasaki’s big launch into the real of hyper-performance street bikes; first, in 1990 with the Ninja ZX-11 and again in 1994 with the Ninja ZX-9R. For 6 straight years (1990 to 1996), the Ninja ZX-11 was the world’s fastest production motorcycle. The Ninja is Kawasaki’s flagship performance sportbike and with the company’s dominance in 2-wheel motorsports, Kawasaki has captured championships in multiple motorcycle racing circuits such as AMA Superbike, MotoGP, and SuperTwin.  Kawasaki is one of Japan’s “Big 4” (along with Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki) and a superior force in both the street and the racetrack.
